Mickey Moore, Patriot Award winner, Ashley Foster, nominator, Mark Arbuckle, Patriot Award winner
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced that Employee Screening Services of Missouri, LLC, was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserves.
At 3:30 p.m. on January 27, 2014, the “Patriot Award” ceremony was conducted during a senior level management and department head training meeting at the Trustpoint Center, 2870 S. Ingram Mill Road, Springfield. Col. (Ret.) Steve Vanderhoof, ESGR Area 4 Chair, made the opening remarks and the “official” award presentation. Several supervisors and managers of the firm witnessed the presentation of this prestigious award.
Mickey Moore, Owner, and Mark Arbuckle, Regional Office Supervisor, were nominated for being highly supportive of the military Reserve Service employees and their family members, by Ashley Foster, Office Coordinator. Foster is Private First Class in the Headquarters Company of 35th 2229 Iowa Street, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. She reports that her civilian employer is extremely supportive and proud of her military service. She says the support of her civilian employer allows her time off to attend drill sessions, training events, and other military requirements. This gives her peace of mind that her career will not be negatively impacted by her participation in the military and allows her to serve her country. She applied for Patriot Awards to be issued to her supervisor and the owner to recognize their support of the employees that are members of the National Guard and Reserve Forces.
According to Admiral (Ret) Lee Metcalf, ESGR Missouri Chair, “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions with America’s borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of citizen warriors. ESGR advocates relevant initiatives, recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of applicable laws, and resolves conflict between employers and service members.
