Our workplace safety program can provide training for you and your staff in a number of areas including but not limited to:
CDL Driver/FMCSA
An overview of the federal drug and alcohol testing regulations that apply to CDL drivers. Regulations indicate it is mandatory that all employers of CDL drivers provide those drivers with the required content described in 49 CFR, Part 382.601(b). At the end of this training session, the attendee will:
- Be able to identify the company’s Designated Employer Representative(s) (DER).
- Learn testing procedures, including information regarding the integrity of the testing process, safeguarding the validity of the test results, and getting correct results
- Become aware of the categories of which drivers are subject to testing and circumstances under which a driver will be tested.
- Identify when the driver is required to be in compliance.
- Know what constitutes and refusal to test and what conduct is prohibited to the driver.
- Understand the consequences of failing a drug or alcohol test (for alcohol, both levels of violation)
- Become aware of the effects of alcohol and controlled substances, including signs and symptoms of a problem.
- Information concerning referral and recovery services.
In addition, an employer will receive Certificates of Receipt signed by the driver and trainer.
Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion Recognition Training
At the end of this training session, the attendee will:
- Know some of the behavioral, physical and emotional signs and impacts of drug and alcohol use on an individual as well as:
- Recognize paraphernalia associated with the use of drugs.
- Know common adulterants that interfere with drug test results.
- Become aware of the negative impairment of various levels of alcohol concentrations in the human body by using learning tools (e.g., beer goggles).
- Recognize other signs of potential substance abuse/use in the workplace.
- Identify some of the dangers associated with the usage of drugs and alcohol.
- Learn different confrontation methods as well as documentation procedures.
- Understand current trends and how they impact safety in the workplace.
*Participants will also receive an informational manual for future reference which includes information presented during the workshop, a sample documentation form, and sample confrontation wording.
Drug Free Workplace Training
At the end of this training session, the attendee will:
- Be able to identify the company’s Designated Employer Representative(s) (DER).
- Learn testing procedures, including information regarding the integrity of the testing process, safeguarding the validity of the test results, and getting correct results.
- Know the categories of which employees are subject to testing and circumstances under which an employee will be tested.
- Identify when the employee is required to be in compliance.
- Know what constitutes and refusal to test and what conduct is prohibited to the driver.
- Understand the consequences of failing a drug or alcohol test (for alcohol, both levels of violation).
- Become aware of the effects of alcohol and controlled substances, including signs and symptoms of a problem.
- Have information concerning referral and recovery services.
In addition, an employer will receive Certificates of Receipt signed by the employee and trainer.
Employees – Other DOT Administrations
An overview of the federal drug and alcohol testing regulations that apply to PHMSA-covered employees. Regulations indicate it is mandatory that all employers of PHMSA employers provide those employees with official drug and alcohol policies listed in 199.239 . At the end of this training session, the attendee will:
- Be able to name the company’s Designated Employer Representative(s).
- Understand the categories of employees subject to the provisions.
- Know when an employee is required to be in compliance and under which circumstances a covered employee will be tested.
- Identify what conduct is prohibited to the employee, including what constitutes a refusal to test and the consequences.
- Become aware of testing procedures, including information regarding the integrity of the testing process, safeguarding the validity of the test results, and getting correct results.
- Understand consequences of failing a drug or alcohol test (at both .02-.039; and at .04 or >).
- Be able to recognize the signs, symptoms and effects of alcohol and controlled substance use.
- Have information concerning referral/recovery services (Employee Assistance Program or EAP).
- Know aspects of a company anti-drug plan, including methods for compliance, laboratories used, MRO and SAP information, and how to notifying employees of provisions of the plan.
In addition, an employer will receive Certificates of Receipt signed by the employee and trainer.
Medical Marijuana
At the end of this training session, the attendee will:
- Be able to identify suggested steps for updating substance misuse policy and addressing safety issues related to medical marijuana and other medications
- Know recent trends in medical marijuana, CBD oil, and their impact on safety in the workplace
- Understand options in drug testing methodology
- Learn an employer’s responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations
- Be able to define training requirements for employers and supervisors
- Recognize the potential safety impact and benefits of a drug-free workplace
